The 30 yard container in Phoenix
The 30 yard takes up the same 22 by 7.5 feet of ground as the 20 — the extra volume is all height. That makes it the natural pick when a job makes a lot of bulky debris but the site has no more room: a whole-house gut in one of the older central Phoenix neighborhoods, a rental block turned over in Tempe, a shop refit in Mesa.
The sides are six feet high, so most of what goes in is carried or thrown rather than tipped from a wheelbarrow. Contractors with a crew do not mind; a homeowner working alone usually prefers two 20s.
Whole-house gut jobs, new builds and big cleanouts
Taking a house back to the studs fills a 30 in a hurry: every cabinet, every door, the drywall from every room. Estate cleanouts with a lifetime of furniture land here too. On new builds across the West Valley and out toward Queen Creek it is often the first container on site, taking framing offcuts, packaging and mixed debris.
Knocking a building down in Phoenix needs a City demolition permit first — $98 for a single-family house — and the permit expires if the job is not finished within 60 days, debris clearing included. Before you even apply, the City sends you to the Maricopa County asbestos program (602-506-6708). We will ask whether you have the permit.
Weight, swaps and long jobs
Four to five tons is included. Jobs that run for weeks usually go on a swap schedule — we drop an empty when we pull the full one, so the site never waits. Tell us how long the job runs and we will set the rhythm. Every load leaves tarped: the Maricopa County dust rule wants hauled loads covered, with at least three inches between the load and the top of the box.
Suitability
Is the 30 yard the right size for you?
Rough working figures. Weight, not volume, is what usually decides.
Choose the 30 yard for
- Whole-house renovation to the studs
- New construction and demolition debris
- Commercial remodels and office strip-outs
- Big estate cleanouts with furniture
- Large shingle roofs
Pick a different size for
- Heavy inert loads only — concrete, dirt and rock belong in a 10 loaded level
- Small cleanouts (you will pay for air)
- Sites with no 60 ft straight run for the truck
- Asbestos or hazardous material of any kind
Placing a 30 yard container on a Valley property
It needs about 60 feet of straight, level run for the truck and 25 feet of overhead clearance. On your own driveway or lot in Phoenix we found no City permit for the container; in a street, lane or sidewalk, Street Transportation's Right-of-Way Management Office (602-262-6235) issues a TRACS restriction permit and wants two to three business days' notice. Other cities have their own rules — Scottsdale names roll-off dumpsters in its right-of-way permit, Chandler charges $315 for a traffic control permit. Check your HOA too: some limit how long a container can sit in a driveway. Boards go under the rails on request. Each town page covers its own code.

30 Yard Dumpster — questions we get asked
Is a 30 yard too big for a house?
For a normal cleanout, yes. For a renovation that strips several rooms to the studs, no — that volume arrives faster than people expect. We will tell you honestly which it is.
Can I do swaps on a 30 yard?
Yes. We pull the full container and drop an empty in the same visit. Contractors with multi-week jobs usually book the first swap at the start.
How much does a 30 yard dumpster weigh when full?
It depends entirely on what is in it. Four to five tons of disposal is included; a 30 full of plaster, stucco and tile can go past that, so we plan heavy loads with you up front.
Do I need a permit for a 30 yard?
We found no City of Phoenix permit for a container on your own driveway or lot. If it has to sit in the street, a lane or on the sidewalk, Street Transportation's Right-of-Way Management Office (602-262-6235) issues the restriction permit and wants two business days' notice for a partial or sidewalk restriction, three for a full closure. Tell us when you book and we will tell you if your spot needs one.

30 yard dumpsters delivered across the Valley of the Sun
We run roll-off containers out of the Jackson Street yard to every city and town below. Phoenix and the close-in cities are usually same-day; the edges of the Valley are often next-day. Most cities license the haulers that work inside their limits, and a few keep household trash for themselves — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
