Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Fountain Hills
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- The fountain — built in 1970, the Town calls it the tallest in the United States; it reaches 560 ft with all three pumps and runs about 15 minutes every hour on the hour.
- Republic Services collects trash, recycling, green waste and bulk under Town contract — mandatory for homes since July 2011.
- Bulk by zone — nine zones, one day each; the 2026 round began with Zone 1 on 4 March.
- 40.7% of residents are 65 or over, 84.4% owner-occupied, median home value $622,900 (Census, 2020–2024).
- Town Hall is at 16705 E Avenue of the Fountains, 480-816-5100, open 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Thursday.

What comes out of Fountain Hills properties
Remodels in 15s and 20s, estate and downsizing cleanouts in 20s and 30s, and a 10 for rock and concrete. Bulk pickup is one day per zone, so anyone who misses it — or has more than a curb pile — needs another way to move it. The Town's code calls a construction site a commercial generator and defines construction waste to include remodelling, repair and demolition rubble.

Sizes
Choosing a container size in Fountain Hills
Weight is what usually decides the size, not how much room the pile takes up.
| Size | Dimensions | Capacity | Weight included | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Yard Dumpster | about 14 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 3.5 ft high | about 3 pickup truck loads | 1–2 tons | Small kitchen and bath remodels, concrete, tile, rock and dirt loaded level, a garage or one room. |
| 15 Yard Dumpster | about 16 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high | about 4–5 pickup truck loads | 2–3 tons | Kitchen remodels, flooring and carpet tear-outs, fence and deck removal, landscaping refreshes, one big room or two small ones. |
| 20 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 4.5 ft high | about 6 pickup truck loads | 3–4 tons | Multi-room renovations, shingle roof tear-offs, estate cleanouts, landscaping, monsoon cleanup and most contractor jobs. |
| 30 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 6 ft high | about 9 pickup truck loads | 4–5 tons | Whole-house renovations, new builds, large roofing jobs, commercial remodels, estate cleanouts and full property cleanups. |
| 40 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 7.5 ft wide × 8 ft high | about 12 pickup truck loads | 5–6 tons | Commercial construction and demolition, multi-unit projects, warehouse cleanouts, commercial roofing and community cleanups. |
Permits, placement and who may haul in Fountain Hills
Who may haul: Town Code 10-1-20 gives the Town and its contractor the exclusive right to collect refuse from Residential Service Units, and residents cannot opt out (10-1-21). No separate hauler licence was found, but every business working in town needs a Town business licence (8-1-2). Construction sites count as commercial generators (10-1-2), so contractor and remodel jobs are the clear case. Homeowner roll-offs are a grey area under the code — call us before booking so we can confirm where your job stands.
In the street: code 16-1-3 requires an Encroachment Permit from Development Services, with an approved traffic control plan kept on site, for work in the right-of-way; starting before the permit raises the fee to 1.5 times (16-1-8). The fee amount was not found. Keep the container on the driveway.
Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.
How it works
Booking a dumpster in Fountain Hills
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
- 1
Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the container needs to sit, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No forms, no waiting on an email.
- 2
We size it and quote it flat
You get one number covering delivery, the 7-day rental, pickup, disposal and a stated tonnage allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, rock or a tile roof, we say up front that weight decides the size.
- 3
Delivered where you want it
The driver checks the spot and sets the container square on the driveway, lot or job site, with boards under the rails if you want them. Same-day in Phoenix if you called before noon, depending on availability.
- 4
Load at your own pace
Keep it level with the top rail and keep the banned items out — tires, car batteries, oil, paint, chemicals, fridges with the refrigerant still in them, and anything hot. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call and we are on it.
- 5
We haul it and dispose of it right
The load goes out tarped to a licensed transfer station or landfill, with metal, concrete and clean green waste recycled where the facility takes them. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Next morning as a rule — it is about 41 minutes from the yard. Call (602) 806-8650 and ask.
Can I rent a dumpster for my house in Fountain Hills?

Can a dumpster sit in the street in Fountain Hills?
Only with a Development Services encroachment permit and a traffic control plan. The driveway is simpler.
I missed my zone's bulk day — what now?
Bulk runs one day per zone. If the pile will not wait, or is bigger than a curb pile, call us about a container.

Every city and town we cover
We run roll-off containers out of the Jackson Street yard to every city and town below. Phoenix and the close-in cities are usually same-day; the edges of the Valley are often next-day. Most cities license the haulers that work inside their limits, and a few keep household trash for themselves — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
